Desert Botanical Gardens - Chihuly "The Nature of Glass"

A friend recommended the 4:00pm slot for this timed-entry show, because you experience the exhibit in two forms; first with the wonderful afternoon shadows that lengthen to twilight and second with dramatic artificial light.

We took a break at the Patio Cafe in between to rest our feet and refuel. The Santa Fe Wrap was very tasty. Music was provided for "Spiked" the DBG's "Thursday night social event"(extra $$), but the sound managed to slip past the velvet rope boundaries, as did the patrons carrying the cocktail glasses with lights bouncing in the bottom. The hors d'oeuvres didn't break free, so no wrap vs. horses' do-overs comparisons can be made.

The evening even included an audience participation zombie-walk-to-the-burning-torch performance. [Skip to about 11:40 on the video, if you want to go directly there and skip all the artsy-fartsy stuff]

Concrete plans were made and executed. Success!

Spring Training - Surprise, Arizona Feb 26, 2009

What gorgeous weather for day at the ballpark!

Our last minute bonus tickets were in the sun, which some preferred...
But the fair skinned and the man who didn't bring hat, were happy to move into the shade after a couple of innings

These two need more Kettlecorn.

5th Halloween Party Feb 7, 2009

Halloween in February!
Circumstances cancelled the October 2008 gathering, but there is no holding down those holiday vibes for another year.
This year's theme was "Something from the Sixty's".
Prizes were awarded for the following costumes:
"Best Historical" to the Hippy couple,
"Funniest" to Fred and Wilma Flintstone,
"Least Likely to Come Back" to the Surfing couple (since surfing never went away)
"Best Future" to Scotty.

"1960's Elimination Trivia" and "Find the States" games kept everyone awake after eating. The winners of these keenly contested events also received valuable prizes, however singing along with the 1960s music was not rewarded.
